Business Insider reported earlier that this guy, in response to Apple eliminating the popular Blockchain application on its iOS application platform for the IPhone and IPad. A reddit user on the subreddit /r/bitcoin decided to open up the forum by posting a message stating that he’d give anybody a Nexus 5 phone for a video of somebody smashing their IPhone. This guuy ended up taking it to the extreme and shot his IPhone from 300 yards with assorted huge guns. It’s not like anybody hasn’t seen a phone explode in slow motion, there are lots of videos of it on the web already. But this one is just so sweet since it’s just so ridiculous and childish for members of the bitcoin community to react so childishly to this mostly likely temporary measure by Apple.
Blockchain, the popular bitcoin application that allowed you to view bitcoin transactions on the open ledger in real time, as well as keep a wallet with all of you bitcoins hosted, was the last of several bitcoin apps eliminated by Apple recently, mostly in response to much of the negative media surrounding bitcoin, spurred by Charlie Shrem’s arrest less than two weeks ago.
I personally have pretty mixed feelings about this. It’s super creepy, and super childish, and definitely doesn’t help people who are trying to legitimize guns, and really hurts the bitcoin movement.
